Iran, Cuba discuss bilateral cooperation in judiciary field
TEHRAN (IRNA) -- Iranian Justice Minister Jamal Karimi-Rad discussed
bilateral cooperation with his Cuban counterpart, Roberto Diaz
Sotolongo, in Havana Monday evening.
The Iranian embassy in Havana said in a statement that the two held
talks on major bilateral, regional and international developments.
The Iranian minister was in President Mahmud Ahmadinejad's delegation
during his official visit to Cuba to attend the G-15 meeting and the
Non-Aligned Movement's (NAM) 14th Summit held last Sept 14-15.
Leaving his justice minister in Cuba, the president flew to Venezuela
and on Sunday was awarded the "Libertador Medal," the highest
distinction the country awards to visiting dignitaries, by his Cuban
counterpart Hugo Chavez.
Ahmadinejad left Havana for New York Tuesday morning to address the 61st
annual session of the UN General Assembly.
Karimi-Rad and Sotolongo, during their talks, stressed exchange of legal
and judicial delegations between their two capitals to strengthen
judicial cooperation as well as pave the way for the clinching of
agreements to boost bilateral judiciary ties.
The Iranian side voiced Tehran's readiness to share its experiences in
the field of prisons management and setting up of arbitration councils.
Karimi-Rad also extended an invitation to Sotolongo to visit Iran which
the Cuban official accepted.
