Police raid shoemakers in Morón
MORON, Cuba - May 25 (Abel Escobar Ramírez / www.cubanet.org) - Police
carried out a series of raids targeting independent shoemakers in Morón,
Ciego de Ávila province, May 24 and confiscated shoes and materials.
Critics here say this is part of the government's efforts to stamp out
private economic activity, which they say hurts consumers, who end up
having to buy shoes of lesser quality from dollar stores.
