Water situation critical in Mayari community

Water situation critical in Mayarí community

HOLGUIN, Cuba - October 23 (Jesús Almaguer Pérez, Jóvenes sin Censura /
www.cubanet.org) - A settlement in Mayarí municipality that goes by the
name of Guatemala has gone from bad to worse, as far as its water supply
goes.

It used to be residents could get water after waiting in line to fill
their containers from a faucet on the way out of town; now, they have to
walk almost two kilometers to another settlement known as Camilo.

The basic problem is due to broken pipes that have not been repaired in
over ten years. Townspeople complain the authorities do not seem very
interested in finding a solution to the problem.
