U.S. airlines had until the end of Wednesday to apply for new Cuba
routes that opened up as part of a February aviation deal between the
USA and Cuba. The deal allows 110 daily flights between the nations,
though only 20 are set aside for service to Havana. Beyond Havana, 10
daily flights will be allowed on routes to each of Cuba's nine other
international airports.

Applications by U.S. airlines are expected to set off a scramble for
flights to Havana, by far Cuba's most popular destination. Bids for
routes to Cuba's other nine airports appear to be less competitive. Here
are the details of U.S. applications for Cuba service that have so far
been made public:

ALASKA AIRLINES

To Havana

Los Angeles: 2 daily round-trip flights

AMERICAN AIRLINES

To Havana

Miami: 10 daily round-trip flights

Charlotte: 1 daily round-trip flight

Dallas/Fort Worth: 1 daily round-trip flight

Los Angeles: 1 daily round-trip flight

Chicago O'Hare: Saturday only (1 round-trip flight)

Los Angeles: Sunday only (1 round-trip flight)
