Cuba and the Internet
Cuba ranks last in the Americas for Internet usage, with fewer than 2
percent of residents using it. The government blames the U.S. embargo
for limiting international telecom links.
Cuba joins China, North Korea and 10 other nations on Reporters without
Borders' Internet "enemies" list for limiting access.
Cubans cannot legally buy a computer or subscribe to an Internet service
provider without a government permit. The government allows e-mail
accounts and access to a more limited Cuban Intranet.
