Journalist and two dissidents arrested

HAVANA, November 6 (Juan Carlos Linares Balmaseda / www.cubanet.org) -
Police here arrested independent journalist Roberto Santana and civil
rights activists Luis Enrique Rodríguez and Edgard López November 2
after they had visited the office of the U. S. diplomatic mission in Havana.

Santana said they were taken to a police station in the Vedado district
and questioned. After holding them from their arrest at about noon until
night, they were released after police confiscated books, brochures,
coloring books, photocopies of articles downloaded from the Internet, a
flashlight and a radio.

Santana said: "This is theft. The items they confiscated had been a gift
to us".
