René Gómez Manzano, President of the Cuba´s Working Group of the ISHR
(www.miscelaneasdecuba.net).- The Cuba's Working Group of the
International Society of Human Rights, ISHR, denounces hereby to the
national and international public opinion the acts of harassment
perpetrated against two members of its Executive Board.
In the first place, we must inform that Mr. Jorge Luis García Pérez
(Antúnez) has been followed by police agents and watched in an
ostensible way, even in his own home. September 28 last, a search was
performed in Havana in the house he was staying in, and he was detained
together with his wife.
A few days later, past Thursday October 1, Ms. Ana Margarita Perdigón
Brito, also a member of our Executive Board, was detained by orders of
the political police early in the morning; she remained in that
situation for several hours, together with other peaceful activists. The
obvious purpose of the detention was to prevent all of them from taking
part in a meeting to be held that same day.
On the other hand, the members of our Working Group Dr. Darsi Ferrer
Ramírez, as well as twenties of other innocent political prisoners,
continue in jail.
The Cuba's Working Group of the ISHR denounces these arbitrary acts and
demands the solidarity of all men and women of good will.
