Michael Moore denies visiting Cuba to praise Castro or his regime
From our ANI Correspondent

Washington, May 19: Filmmaker Michael Moore has said that he did not
intend to praise Castro or his regime in 'Sicko', his film about the US
health system, by visiting Cuba for the purpose of shooting.

His visit to the island country has triggered a probe by the Treasury
Department, which has subsequently banned travel to Cuba.

But Moore insists that he had taken a group of 9/11 responders to Cuba
for treatment, to show them why the health-care system in the island
nation was highly regarded, and why the average life of Cubans is one
month longer than that of Americans.

"I just want to say to fellow Americans, 'C'mon, we're the United
States! If they can do this, we can do it,'" Contactmusic quoted him as
saying.

Moore also claimed that the facts in his movie would be very accurate.
He corroborated his claim by saying that that he had once announced a
reward of 10,000 dollars for anyone who would point out any erroneous
fact in Fahrenheit 9/11, and said that he did not have to pay a penny to
anyone so far.

He, however, did not reveal whether he had plans for making a similar
announcement again or not.

Meanwhile, according to reports, the director has anonymously sent a
cheque of 12,000 dollars to film critic Jim Kenefick, who was having
difficulty paying his wife's medical bills.

But Kenefick, who operates the Moorewatch.com website, did not express
any thankfulness to Moore, when he was told about the help coming from
the director.

"Moore is going to try to make me into one of his little puppets," he
told the New York Daily News.

"I'm not an idiot. I know when to say yes to something, even if the
string attached is obvious. What kind of moron turns down a free 12
grand?" he said.
