WASHINGTON D.C.: According to a press release from Congressman Connie
Mack, R-FL, the Bahamian government has released Dr. David
Gonzalez-Mejias and Dr. Marialis Darias-Mesa.

Mack made the following statement in the press release:

"I'm pleased and relieved that David and Marialis have once and for all
been released from their wrongful imprisonment in the Bahamas to live
with their families in freedom in the United States.

"Their heart-wrenching story is one that I hope won't be repeated, and I
appreciate the tireless efforts of Ambassador John Rood and his staff
and my colleagues in Congress - especially Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, Mario
Diaz-Balart and Lincoln Diaz-Balart. Without their commitment to
righting this wrong these families would still be torn apart.

"I also appreciate the Bahamian government's decision to finally release
David and Marialis. It was the right and just decision."
