Coast Guard returns 46 migrants to Cuba
Associated Press
MIAMI - Forty-six Cuban migrants intercepted at sea in the past two
weeks were returned Thursday to the island nation, the U.S. Coast Guard
said.
The migrants were found at sea between Feb. 20 and Sunday, the Coast
Guard said. They were returned Thursday to Bahia de Cabanas, Cuba.
One suspected smuggler was taken into custody, the Coast Guard said.
Under U.S. immigration policy, Cubans who are intercepted at sea usually
are repatriated, while those who reach land usually are allowed to stay.
