HEALTH

A family's dream holiday turned into a nightmare when their little girl
was locked in a hospital cell for four days because airport staff
thought she had swine flu.

Pete Marsh, 47, spent £4,000 on the Cuban getaway with his wife Marian
and children Bethany, 12, and Sarah, seven.

When they arrived at the island's Holguin airport, a thermal-imaging
camera showed Bethany had a high temperature. She was rushed to a
ramshackle hospital room with bars on the windows and no running water -
and told they could not leave.

They only got out when Pete, a DCI in Manchester, told staff they would
have to arrest him to make them stay. Pete, from Stockport, Lancs, said:
"The conditions were absolutely diabolical."

Now they are back at their hotel but say their holiday has been ruined.
No one from the Cuban Embassy in London was available to comment.
