MOSCOW, July 29 (Itar-Tass) - Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has sent
a message to Chairman of the State Council and Council of Ministers of
Cuba Raul Castro on the occasion of the 56th anniversary of storming of
the Moncada Barracks that started the Cuban Revolution.
In the message circulated by the Kremlin press service the RF president,
in particular, noted the importance of the fact that "today
Russian-Cuban relations are steadily developing." "We seek to advance
promising joint projects and give the leading role in this process to
efficient activities of the intergovernmental commission for
trade-economic and scientific-technical cooperation," Medvedev noted.
In the view of the Russian president, "it is necessary to build up
interaction in the high technology and innovation sectors, such as, for
example, the biopharmaceutical industry, to progress towards the
creation of joint enterprises and production facilities." The Russian
head of state also believes that the continuation of the active
cooperation in the electric power and infrastructure sectors, in the
spheres of transport and communication is a priority. He expressed
readiness to provide support to Russian companies working in the oil and
natural gas sector of Cuba.
Russian Deputy Prime Minister Igor Sechin who is in Cuba on a visit
handed the message to Raul Castro.
