In that regard, the processing plant in eastern Ciego de Avila province
is producing pineapple juice to meet the growing demand from the
domestic market.
Cuba's citrus sector is diversifying industrial production to increase
the value added to that activity.
The plant has processed more than 180 tons of pineapple harvested in
Matanzas and Villa Clara provinces.
The factory, which can process eight tons of pineapple per hour, can
also process orange, grapefruit, tangerine, lemon, guava, mango, banana,
papaya and other fruits.
