More migrants arrive from Cuba

MIAMI, June 4 (UPI) -- For the second time in a week, a group fleeing
Cuba has landed in South Florida, officials said.

Eight migrants arrived at Virginia Key Wednesday morning in a boat they
said they built themselves, The Miami Herald reported.

The Cubans said they spent five days at sea before reaching the United
States.

They told the newspaper they ditched their boat in the mangroves near
the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's weather station.

Under U.S. policy, Cuban migrants who make it to U.S. soil are generally
allowed to stay. Those interdicted at sea are usually turned back to Cuba.

The Cubans said the government's recent reforms had done little to
improve life in Cuba, the report said.
