Six arrested in Cuban smuggling ring

Six arrested in Cuban smuggling ring

NAPLES, Fla., April 24 (UPI) -- Six men were arrested on suspicion of
operating a Cuban migrant smuggling ring off the coast of western
Florida, according to authorities.

The men were charged in connection with the recent smuggling of 28
Cubans found this week on an island near Naples on the Gulf of Mexico,
the Naples Daily News reported Wednesday.

While most Cuban migrants continue to arrive in the Florida Keys and
along the Atlantic coast of Florida, more refugees have been landing on
the western shore of the state in recent years in hopes of eluding U.S.
Coast Guard patrols.
