China aids Cuba's energy revolution

China aids Cuba's energy revolution
April 6, 2006

President Fidel Castro said yesterday that Cuba had bought 100 train
engines and more than 7 000 buses for delivery this year from China as
part of his "energy revolution" to save fuel and improve public
transport on the communist island.

Since the demise of the Soviet Union, China is Cuba's second-largest
trading partner after Venezuela. They exchanged goods of more than $550
million (R3.3 billion) last year. - Sapa-AFP, Havana
