Cuba's vice president says he remains optimistic about Castro's recovery
(Havana-AP) November 21, 2006 - Cuba's vice president says he's
optimistic about the recovery of ailing leader Fidel Castro.
On Cuban state television Tuesday, Carlos Lage said the leader's health
"continues to improve." Castro temporarily ceded power to his brother
when he underwent surgery four months ago. And the country hasn't
revealed any details about the operation or the exact nature of his illness.
The question remains on whether Castro will attend a parade in his
honor. A December second parade will belatedly celebrate his 80th
birthday and the military's 50th anniversary. Castro's birthday was in
August.
