HAVANA (Reuters) - Ignacio Insua, a Cuban cameraman working for Reuters
Television in Havana, died on Monday of a heart attack after suffering
spine injuries in a car accident. He was 57.

Insua was traveling with two other Reuters journalists when their car
crashed on August 29 in Ciego de Avila province, 300 miles east of Havana.

They were returning from covering tropical storm Ernesto.

Insua, a short, stocky man with a permanent smile on his face, began
working for Cuban state television in 1968. In 1997 he helped open the
first bureau of Spanish Television TVE in Cuba.

He joined Reuters in February 2004.

Insua was a man of exceptional warmth and optimism who loved life. When
commenting on Cuba's economic hardships, he would invariably reply with
the stock Cuban answer: "Hey, it's not easy," but then add "it isn't
that difficult either."

He is survived by his wife Niurka, step-daughter Dayanis, 17, and
14-month son Julio.
